Ok, here's a follow-up. Here's the house with all of the windows in. Cool stuff!

Windows.
Well, they're in. The large ones are in, too, but I haven't gotten around to downloading those photos yet. Not very exciting, anyway.

Interior
Here's an exciting
Framing continues...
I know, exciting stuff. Yes, they're still framing the home. They've had some trouble with the trusses, as it's been windy. It's shaping up, however. I would categorize the home design as short and stout.

Interior Framing
Which room is this? I don't know. Actually you're looking at the rear corner of the Great Room. The fireplace will be in the corner. Behind the wall is the master bedroom. The room to the right of the master is the walk-in closet.

Better Photo - Walls
We had to take another trip out to the jobsite today, so I took some photos with a proper camera. The winds were nuts today, but they still managed to put up some walls. The wall farthest to the right is the master bedroom rear wall, complete with a huge window - maybe a bit too huge. Oh well. What are those white specks? That's what happens when the on-camera flash reflects off the snowflakes. That's right - snowflakes.
Dinnette Walls
Ok, we're building walls now. Notice that they "stick-build" the walls on the ground then tip them up into place. Sorry about the camera phone photo.

Floor.
Not too exciting, but here's the floor. The framers were delayed a couple of days because the lumber company sent them OSB that had been sitting out at a previous job site. It was bowing and nasty, so they sent it back and had to wait for new.
The other builders in town - Kettle Creek, Bielinski, Miracle Homes, etc., would have surely put the old stuff on our home. It's nice that the framers are working for US.

Foundation, backfilled and ready to go.
The foundation has now cured, and everything is set for framing. It should start on Monday, October 2, but the weather doesn't look good. Oh well.

Completed Foundation
Well, here it - 67 yards of concrete. Thats about 7 cement trucks worth. Framing should start in about a week.

Forms
Here the forms are being locked into place for the basement pour. There are vertical rebar members throughout which are "tied in" to rebar on the bottom and top.
This would be my opportunity to seal any enemies I may have into the walls of my basement.

Dude forming up the footings.
Here the forms (which happen to also be the Form-A-Drain "drain tiles") are being set for the concrete footings.
Note the soil - it's all sandy gravel, which is the best soil you can hope for. Water dissipates quickly, hopefully eliminating basement water issues and freeze/thaw expansion and contraction. Cool information on soils can be found here.

Holy...hole?
Yes, indeed, we now have a hole. This guy is getting things in shape to pour the footings, assuming they can do so in the rain.

Jake Breaking Ground
We expect the excavators on Tuesday, so we thought we'd have Jake do the official groundbreaking at our lot.

The Lot.
Well, here it is - the one acre or so of land that will hold our new home.
It's been a while since we started this whole mess - we started seriously considering building around April 1. We found our builder in June, closed on our house in early August, and just received our building permit a few days ago.
This blog won't be too excited for most, but it's a good way for us to share what's up with family and friends. It'll also be a nice record of the whole construction process.
We don't know when we're breaking ground - our builder hasn't told us a firm date, but it sounded like we'll start next Tuesday due to the holiday.
When will this be done? Probably 6-7 months. That might sound crazy come February.
